Courtney,
Trish pointed out that I never actually made any references to the illustration in the article. I'm counting on my readers being smart enough to make the connection themselves. But, then, the whole point of next week's Tech Writing article is that writers shouldn't ever do that. Ever.

Sometimes you get away with it, though. We'll see how this one plays out. In the end, I didn't have the word count to weave in a clear parallel, but I loved the image too much to do without.

Concerning the recommendation...we're running out of time. I want a glossy paperback on the shelves too, full court press from some New York publishing house's marketing department, maybe an interview on Oprah.

Those days are coming to an end, though (and I'm not just talking about Oprah's contract). I expect we'll find an article or two to write about the topic, but for now, we can just stare off wistfully into the middle distance, and dream about Stephen King saying of our novels, "Groundbreaking! A fun romp."

I wonder how many of your readers aren't going to recognize the object in the picture you chose for this post. ;o) I think it's perfect.

And I want the glowing recommendation from Stephen King.
