3. The 3D Student | Tutorials, Reviews, and advice for 3D Students
4. Heather is currently a 2nd year 3D student in Scotland with aspirations to become a kick-ass VFX artist. She started her blog to reach out to other 3D students and build a community of smart, talented, inspired, and (dare I say it) ambitious individuals that'd do the industry proud. The blog provides tutorials, reviews, advice, and entertainment (in the form of a webcomic) for the beginner/intermediate 3D-er.
5. Pre-writing page: http://www.shadesofadream.com/blog/pre-writing-challenge/
6. Goal: I usually post 4 times a week, one of which is a webcomic. My goal for the challenge is to have 3 weeks worth of posts pre-written (apart from Tuesday posts), 3 guest posts, and a finished ebook by the end of the Easter Holidays. Suddenly looking like very deep water... ah well, it'll be fun.

Finally made it onto the forum as well.. Hey everyone! :)

Probably going to be doing the bulk of my writing at the weekends, so I've only really gotten as far as planning for now. Using a slightly different challenge though. How's everyone else doing?

you need a plugin to display previews publicly...it's called Public Post Preview. When you have a draft, it gives you a link somewhere down below your your main text box.

OK then, that fills out our 4 review guest posts on Conscious Me, but I would encourage each of you to write your own and publish it. After a month of talking about the challenge, I think your readers would appreciate it, and you'll still get some links from me.

At least, I think you can. I have no idea how portable preview links are. If that doesn't work, you can always log in and preview it yourself.

Be warned, though: it's long. Halfway through the challenge, it's already 2400 words. I can't help myself.

Hey gang. I just did an additional pre-writing updates post (in addition to the "challenge page": http://zemalf.com/1297/pre-writing-challenge-updates/

Carlos - I'll be doing the kind of review you asked - especially since you so helpfully made all those questions to make it easy :)

Thanks for the hint about viewing the source of Carlos' page Aaron. Done ;)

So here's me:
1. Image url: http://www.GiveABrick.com/images/el-pre.jpg
2. Eleanor Edwards
3. GiveABrick.com | Give A Brick (i.e. just £1) then ask your friends to do the same
4. Eleanor writes for UK registered charity, Give A Brick. Give A Brick think they are the first charity to ask all their friends to give just one brick (£1) and then ask them to ask their friends to do the same. Your £1 will buy bricks (and roof tiles, concrete and slabs) to provide a place for children to play, young people to hang out in safety and older people to meet. All deserve to feel valued and loved. That's what Give A Brick is about and you make the difference.

At Give A Brick, Eleanor is building an online community of people helping each other out, listening and being listened to. That aspect of Give A Brick doesn't cost a penny ;)

5. Pre-writing challenge page: http://www.giveabrick.com/eating-my-elephant/
6. Goal: "I normally post twice daily; one a short motivational piece designed to be actioned in about a minute and the other, a slightly longer piece around 500 words in length. Therefore, I'm aiming to pre-write 28 posts by the end of the challenge *gulp* This might be slightly insane but given that these are short posts compared to some, I believe this can be done :)"

Just a quick note to say hello. Carlos has very kindly agreed to allow me to join the challenge, albeit a week late. I'll head over to the relevant place and add my bio details etc. in a moment but I just wanted to first say hello and thank you in advance for allowing me to play too. I look forward to getting to know you folks :)

As Carlos has pointed out, it's been my goal to work through the next six weeks (or, five now) of posts during the course of this challenge, so I'll end the month with two more weeks finished.

Given that, I haven't made great progress on my eight challenge posts. I've written one to completion, and done good descriptions on the other seven. I have gotten nine of the next twelve posts done, though -- so I should be rolling right into the challenge posts early this week.

I emailed this to Carlos before I remembered the forum. Duh.
As for my challenge week one, I have my 10 post ideas and some notes on most of them. I have started one in draft and I am going to try to crank out 1 or 2 tonight. My goal for this challenge is to write posts that would be regular features on my site. I want to be able to choose one when I need to post without worry that it is timed or topical. I guess that is pillar content but I am not focusing on a very specific niche. There have been some tough days that I could use posts like that and that is what I am going to write!

I decided that I needed to look at this challenge as the entire 6 weeks of writing (18 posts) rather than just the 2 weeks of pre-writing (6 posts) otherwise I would be so focused on the 6 post topics I'd forget to think of things for the others. So this is where I stand on all of them.

I have, at least, an idea for something like 13-15 of the 18 posts. Three are now in draft format (fully written and linked, waiting for editing and finalizing), and three have either been posted or are already scheduled to post.

I've written at least two of the six around midnight when I should be in bed - or at least not working. I just can't stop writing! Although, I imagine there's a good chance I'll crash and burn in about three days :).

Yours,
Megan

Mine's going well. Not so much that everyone should start hating me for being weirdly successful, but the way I decided to do things forced me to make a posting schedule for the first time since I started the blog, and that has been incredibly valuable to me.

It makes working ahead low-stress, because I have a dozen posts already titled and waiting for content, so I can just pick one that piques my interest at the moment, and add a couple paragraphs. Before that, I had to work on one article at a time, and the task could get monumental.

I'm already having more fun with my blogging, because of this project. Thanks for putting so much time and energy into it, Carlos, or I never would have. You rock.

Okay, today's post should have something to offer, as you're trying to figure out what to talk about.

I've also got three articles on getting started that Carlos recommended I share. The first and second are for everyone, and the third is directed at storytellers (and novelists specifically), but they've all got some good general advice on overcoming the ominous specter that is the blank page.

Also, if you just need something to write about, I'm posting two writing exercises a week, and they've mostly designed to make good blog posts. The plan is for my readers to post their writing exercises on their own blogs, and then share a link in the comments section so I can go check it out. Obviously you don't have to do that, but you might find inspiration (and a quick post) by browsing back through some of my older writing exercises.

Carlos, love the way you formatted everyone's bio information on your site (and especially that you included your own). I was able to just View | Page Source, search for the first line of your bio, and copy and paste the HTML over to my page.

Thanks for making it easy! Now I need to try to get a post written before lunch.

So, in this twitterized age, I read "100 word bio" as "100 character bio", and thought to myself, "well, that's not very long."

Then I saw everyone else's bio, re-read "100 word bio", and thought to myself, "oh."

Here's an updated bio, if you want to update your pages with something a little longer for me. If you don't want to update, no worries. What I submitted before is fine.

Bio: Deacon is an artist, a mechanical engineer, and is rather handsome and charming (or so he will tell you). Deacon's Woodblock Printmaking Studio is in the heart of Downtown San Francisco, blocks from Union Square. He writes about the art he makes and sells, printmaking, and pursuing a career in Fine Art while maintaining a DayJob to pay the bills, and what all that stuff has to do with life.

Hey Everyone,

I downloaded a free version of WriteRoom, a software that has been awesome to use for writing. It's a very simple text editor that blacks out the entire background of your computer screen. No menu, no clock, no other windows. Nothing but you and your words. This is perfect for what we're doing. Go try the 31 day (how perfect is that) free trial.

Here's a pic of what my screen looks like (with personalized settings) when I use it.

That's the entire screen. Nothing outside the black. It's beautiful and it's easy on the eyes when you're staring at the screen for hours...no more burning retinas.

I'm really excited about all the different ways people are using this challenge.

Doolin is using it to knock out a series on PHP in wordpress.
Justin is using it to dig out some old promising bits of work and breathe life into them.
Bert is writing a beginners guide to blogging.
Deacon and Dustin are using it as an opportunity to start increasing their posting frequency.
Aaron is mapping out the next 6 weeks of his blog schedule in a cohesive, linear structure.

You guys are incredible and inspiring. Way to take this thing and run with it!
